Original Dublin Presents

Free Walking Tour of Dublin

Our multi-award-winning free tour of Dublin explores the twists and turns of the city’s history through the people who shaped it, past and present.

As well as showing you some of our city’s most famous highlights and ‘must-sees’, it also brings you into the heart of local culture, uncovering the hidden gems and lesser-known stories that reveal how Dublin became the city it is today.

Our free walking tour is led by professional local guides who are also musicians, actors, writers, and artists actively involved in Dublin’s cultural life. We believe that to truly understand Dublin, you need to understand its people; their humour, contradictions, creativity, and resilience. That belief shapes how we tell the city’s story.

Our aim is to give you an unbeatable adventure through Dublin that is engaging, funny, insightful, and thought-provoking. We go beyond standard sightseeing and box-ticking to offer an original experience that connects history with lived culture, past with present. It’s this approach that has earned us multiple awards, including Freetour.com’s Most Original Tour Award, TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best three years running, and the Viator Excellence Award.

We look forward to welcoming you to Dublin, and showing you a version of the city that stays with you long after the tour ends.

Things You Should Know Before Booking

How Does a Free Tour Work?
It's very simple. At the end of the tour you are free to pay the guide whatever you thought the tour was worth. The guide receives no money other than tips from happy customers like you which guarantees you a top-class tour on the premise of fairness and good faith between you and your guide. Average tips range from €15 to €50 per person, depending on the enjoyment and personal budget of the guest. Contactless payments via card machines are also facilitated on the tour.

Group Policy
Groups of 6 or more are subject to a fixed fee. Any group suspected of creating multiple bookings in an effort to avoid these fixed rates will not be allowed to join the tour. If you have a group of 15 or more please contact us no later than 24 hours in advance so we can ensure we have enough guides on site to create an enjoyable experience from everyone.

Warnings
The entire event is outdoors, and will go ahead, regardless of weather. Although the tour is family-friendly, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. There are some themes which require some parental discretion.

Latecomer Policy
Please ensure you arrive at the meeting point no later than ten minutes before the tour is due to start to ensure ease of check in, and a timely departure for our first stop. Look for the guides with the green umbrellas and lanyards. Our meeting point is at 3 Crown Alley, near Temple Bar Square in the heart of the city centre. Click here for a Google Maps Link.
